Wren: Six

Wren can be summarized in a series of absolutes: Always. Never. All. None. She has big feelings. And big reactions. She is always in motion, physically or mentally. She is never quiet. She is always thinking. Creating. Doing. She is voraciously curious and asks the most obscure questions. She is smart. Scarily so. And I wouldn't change ONE thing about her (okay, maybe the "always talking" part). Wren is overwhelming in all the good ways, and her dad and I are so in awe of her. I can't believe my tiny girl is six. But also feel like I she has always been mine.

Weight: 38 pounds

Height: No idea. Tall?

Milestones:
Wren started Spanish immersion kindergarten! And has been loving every minute of it. Wren can count to 100 in Spanish, is starting to speak in short sentences, and has become a champ at reading her level 1 books. She has started to read signs while out and about, and can sound out *most* words. It is so fun to watch (and listen to) her start to read. Especially in Spanish. Wren's teacher is always telling Mom and Dad what a great student Wren is. She is her designated "helper" in class and is working on first grade standards. She also has "beautiful" penmanship (her teacher's words). Wren is also a whiz at math. She (somehow) figured out how to do multiplication on her own (not surprising for Wren) and is always asking Mom to "quiz" her when out driving. Wren has the vocabulary of a much older kid and often makes people laugh in surprise by the things that come out of her mouth. This has been true for most of her life. She has always been such a wise, old soul.

Loves:
Wren loves all things learning. Her favorite subject is science and she is always asking to do experiments. She also loves geography and learning about the earth. She got a globe for Christmas and likes to constantly quiz herself on all of the continents. She also loves learning about how the earth was formed and wants to be a geologist. She is especially interested in ancient history and is infinitely fascinated by fossils and ancient cultures. Wren also loves to create. She is always drawing and making "cards" for people. She likes to make jewelry and crafting is her love language. As always, reading is one of her favorite activities. Her favorite "series" is still "Zoey and Sassafras," and she gets SO excited whenever a new books comes out. She also got a new series for her birthday (Ada Lace) and loves to end the day curled up, reading with Mom. Wren is still the queen" of our daily "activities." It generally doesn't matter what that activity entails. She just loves to spend time creating, experimenting, and crafting with Mom and her brother. Wren also loves the outdoors. She is happiest when on a camping trip with her family, and would go hiking every day if she was allowed.

Hates:
Not being in control. Wren likes to dictate pretty much everything in her life. And she also likes to tell other people (particularly her little brother and little cousins) what to do. If people don't fall in line with her directions, she tends to get really frustrated. She is constantly being told by Mom and Dad that she doesn't get to dictate how other people play or do things, but that is a REALLY difficult thing for her to accept. Wren gets easily overwhelmed by loud noises (like mother like daughter) and gets especially frustrated when stuck in between her two brothers in the car when both boys are crying.
