Anderson: 18 Months

Okay, okay...this is NOT an 18 month update (since he hit that milestone in July, and it is...ahem...November), BUT, I like to stay consistent. If big sister got an 18 month update, then Anderson shall have one too! I'm just always horrible at updating this little blog of mine...

Weight: 24 pounds

Height: No clue. Average for his age. Is that good enough?

Milestones:
Wow. Where to begin. It is CRAZY how much these littles ones change from 1 to 2. Anderson is a talking fool. It was so funny to read his 1 year post where Mommy described him as "not much of a talker." The opposite is true now. Anderson talks NON-STOP. He likes to point out everything around him and will repeat everything you say to him. Once he has heard a word, he repeats it, and it is then a part of his vocabulary. His vocabulary is pretty gigantic, but he is just starting to string words together to form short sentences. He has had a few "phrases" for a while (with the most prominent one being "I want"), but his phrases and sentences are getting more varied and frequent.
Anderson has graduated from his high chair and refuses to sit anywhere but at the table, in his own chair. He even refuses the assistance of a booster chair. On the topic of food, Anderson had a bit of a scare a few months ago when he ended up in the ER, almost unresponsive. It was discovered that Anderson is very prone to ketonic hypoglycemia, so Mommy and Daddy have to be VERY vigilant about Anderson's food intake. It has been a struggle because Anderson likes to go through phases where he refuses to eat basically EVERYTHING. There were a few scary times where Mommy and Daddy had to test his blood sugar levels, but he hasn't ended up back in the ER since the first incident. Thankfully, he has seemed to turn a corner and has recently gotten better about eating.

Loves:
Anderson continues to be one of the most social human beings ever born. He just genuinely loves people, and they love him back. He walks up to complete strangers and gives them the CUTEST little, "hi!" all the time. Anderson LOVES cars, trucks (in all forms), and especially trains. His favorite toy is his Melissa and Doug wooden train and his favorite book is "Freight Train" by Donald Crews. Anderson also continues to love books, in all their varieties. Books are pretty much the only way to get Anderson to sit still in church. The "First 100 Words" books seem to keep him the most entertained. As expected, his favorite pages are all of the ones with "vehicles" on them. Anderson also loves anything that his sister has at any given moment. Big sister Wren has become such a good sharer, but Anderson struggles with reciprocating. If big sister has it, he wants it...no matter what it is. Anderson also loves to wrestle and any activity that is "hands-on." He also continues to love to CLIMB anything and everything...including the bookshelf, which has resulted in needing to strap it to the wall. But, Anderson's favorite past time is getting a rise out of his sister. He likes to steal her toys, tackle her from behind, and take her chair at the dinner table. Anything to annoy his sister, is golden in Anderson's book. Typical little brother...

Hates:
Anderson is just such a happy and joyful little kid that it's hard to pin-point anything that could be labeled as a "hate." He has some mild dislikes, but that's about it. Like his sister (and probably most toddlers), Anderson doesn't like anything that restrains his activity. He doesn't like being taken off the counter (or any other high surface that he has managed to climb up on). Limiting his freedom is about the only thing that gets him riled up. Well, that and trying to get him to share with his big sister.

So, so sooooooo many photos of our beautiful boy. I'll keep it to *just* a few (insert sarcasm here).
